Steve Dean has over 30 years of experience researching markets and implementing investment strategies for both institutional and wealth advisor clients. At Compound Planning, Steve leads the investment team, developing and overseeing the deployment of the public and private model portfolios. Steve began his career in the economic research department of the Federal Reserve before joining a leading global quantitative equity manager where he worked with some of the world’s largest endowments, pension plans and fund providers. He is passionate about exploring the relationships between economic and financial theory and real-world market outcomes. Steve holds a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) with a focus on finance from the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a bachelor’s degree in economics from Hamilton College. He is also a CFA charter holder. Steve lives in the San Francisco Bay area and enjoys exploring Northern California with his wife, Karen, and their three kids, Graham, Spencer and Claire.
